International Success of the Polish Implant

After almost a year and a half long negotiations, product testing and analysis the contract between the Polish company LfC and the American company Blackstone/Orthofix was finally concluded. This is a special event, due to the fact that the USA are world leaders in spine implantology.

LfC sold the IP concerning low-invasive method of lumbar spine biomechanical stabilization with motion preservation – inSWing/DERO. The transaction – which had been preceded by several months’ negotiations involving lawyers in Zielona Góra, Brussels, New York- London and Berlin was finalized in Kraków.

The method was developed and designed for surgical support in treatment of dysfunctions related to the pain formed within the lumbar spine intervertebral space. It is used in treatment of, among other things, stenosis, discopathy, radicular-spinal and joint problems and the number of therapeutic indications is increasing as clinical studies go deeper . Operation using the inSWing method is safe. It belongs to a group of the least invasive operations in spine treatment. It does not violate important spinal structures and opens a wide path to future treatment. In this method the uniqueness means joining the necessary activity which is installing the implant involving its simultaneous self positioning and safe blocking in the place of settlement. It is a real novelty in spine surgery, lowering invasiveness, eliminating many surgical activities (increasing safety and relieving the patient). Stabilization can be performed on one or at the same time on many levels of spine within L1-L5. The functionality of the inSWing method was proved in a series of medical studies.

The whole transaction was preceded by several analyses as well as many works published and many presentations during several symposia and congresses and by thorough tests performed by the buyer. The product has been named as “the symposium product”, “ the most advanced implant applied” in different places all over the world such as Brussels, Istanbul, Texas…
